Recently we found out that there is a strange peanut butter sandwich everywhere – TV, TikTok, colleague’s breakfast. It’s interesting that some likes their sandwich with pickles, others might choose a peanut-butter and bacon sandwich or a peanut butter and marshmallow fluff sandwich. Just peanut butter sandwich or a peanut spread sandwich is also available.
Peanut butter can be combined with any combination of flavors: sweet, savory, spicy, or tangy. You can make the peanut butter sandwich that suits your taste buds. In the spirit of autumn, we suggest a peanut butter and pumpkin sandwich.
This recipe was found in one of those random Internet searches. We originally found a recipe that called for equal amounts of peanut butter and canned pumpkin. This particular sandwich was not what we expected from peanut butter and canned pumpkin.
What we did discover was that this sandwich tastes even better if you add a bit of honey to it and some pumpkin pie spice. It was delicious. The honey helps to soften the pumpkin while the spices add a subtle flavor. All of this is complemented by the peanut butter taste. The result is creamy and rich with just the right amount pumpkin.
Although we prefer adding banana slices to our recipe, it’s not necessary. The pumpkin-peanut mixture is delicious enough as it is. To adjust for banana sweetness, you may want to reduce the honey by half if you do add them.
Ingredients for peanut butter and pumpkin sandwiches:
- Natural creamy peanut butter (2 t/spoon)
- Canned pumpkin (2 t/spoon)
- Honey (1t/spoon)
- Pumpkin pie spice (0.5 teaspoon)
- Sliced banana (if you want)
- Toasted bread (4 slices)
How to cook:
Combine equal amounts of natural creamy peanut butter and pumpkin puree. Then, add honey and pumpkin pie spice. This amount should be enough for 2 sandwiches. Spread the mixture on two slices of bread. If you wish, you can add banana slices. Finally, top it with the remaining bread slices.
