Air travel is not as glamorous today as it was in the days of Pan Am. However, this doesn’t mean that you should abandon your style at the gate.

1. Socks.

It’s not a good idea to walk barefoot in airports. It can also get cold on an airplane. To reach your feet and toes, blood must travel the furthest. Keep them warm, and you’ll feel much more comfortable.

2. Comfortable bottoms with some give

You’ll love stretchy fabrics! You don’t have to stick with pajama pants. Joggers, tights and leggings all look great, but they are also flexible. It’s likely that you’ll be sitting for quite some time so don’t feel restricted. Jeans are for the brave. Pair your jeans with tops or accessories, no matter the weather.

3. Layers.

Layers can make all the difference between a stressful flight and one that is pleasant. They help you adapt to the weather and manage unexpected circumstances with grace once you reach your destination. You might get cold in heated spaces, such as offices. For extra insulation, you can add a sweater or jacket to your coat. It’s a bonus if the sweater can be doubled up as a neck rest/pillow!

You can achieve the distressed look by wearing faux leather leggings (they are stretchy and sharp), a vintage or graphic shirt, and chunky earrings. A maxi cardigan will keep you warm. Wear it with chunky boots or sneakers.

The smart onesie: Forget about pairing tops with bottoms. Opt for a boho jumpsuit and slip-on sandals or a casual dress with boots or flats. You can then add a jacket or cardigan.

The office jetsetter: Are you traveling for work? A knit sweater can be worn with a midi skirt. You can also go for classic black from head to toe. Surprise them with a patterned sweater or a distinctive shoe.

The day-to night: Dress up if you are going to an event or a short flight. Slip-ons are a great option if you’re looking for something more casual.

Sunny sophisticate: Are you heading somewhere warm? Wear shorts or dresses, and a hat and sunglasses. Your kimono, beach coverup or jacket can double as a blanket or jacket on the plane.

The winter wanderer: Are you traveling somewhere cold? Layer up with leggings and layers (at minimum a sweater and a t-shirt), and a blanket scarf.

The look is complete with jewelry. You can add a statement necklace or earrings to your look. You won’t have to miss your flight if you wear a stylish watch.

Are you tired of the feel of makeup on your post-plane skin? A bold lipstick color can draw attention to your face and create a magical effect that brings it alive. You can add an extra step by applying mascara or wearing sunglasses.

Make sure that your luggage will fit into the overhead bin. A lightweight suitcase with wheels is a great choice. It’s easy to lift up and roll around.
