According to multiple social media posts, Willie Garson, Sex and the City’s star, has passed away. Nathen Garson, Willie Garson’s son from ‘Sex and the City,’ posted a tribute via Instagram to his father on Tuesday, September 21.

“I love and miss you papa. Rest in Peace. I’m glad that you were able share your adventures with me, and that we were able achieve so much.” Nathen wrote, “I’m so proud to you. I will always be there for you, but it’s time to start your own adventure. I will always have you. I love you more than you’ll ever know, and I’m happy that you are at peace. You were always the most intelligent, funny, and toughest person I have ever known. I am glad that you shared your [sic] love for me. It will never be forgotten or lost.”

His cause of death is unknown. Rob Morrow, actor, shared the news via Twitter on Tuesday, writing: “Our sweet pal #WillieGarson is gone. Rest easy, dear soul. Dear brother, I love you.” Soon after, actor Titus Welliver posted a tweet saying that there are less of us now. “We’ve lost Garson.”

He is most well-known for his role on Sex and the City as Carrie Bradshaw’s (Sarah Jessica Parker’s) friend Stanford Blatch. This role was also reprised in the sequel series And Just Like That. He also played memorable roles in the hit series White Collar, Hawaii Five-0, and NYPD Blue.

Garson received a Bachelor’s degree in theater from Wesleyan University and a Master of Fine Arts from Yale. In the 1980s, he began working on television with hits such as Family Ties and Cheers. He appeared on many hits throughout his career. He was a regular on Boy Meets World, Friends and Buffy the Vampire Slayer.

Garson, who had been friends with Parker for over a decade before the HBO series, began his stint as Stanford Blatch in episode 1. The pilot episode was his first debut. His character was made more important by the HBO series’ 2010 sequel movie. This also took place around the Stanford’s marriage to Anthony Marantino (Mario Cantone). The couple were seen together on several occasions in New York City during the filming of And Just Like That, the sequel series.

Garson was thrilled to return to Stanford’s role when he last spoke with journalists before. According to Garson, the scripts were “real and funny” and sounded just like him. “The new characters are great and it feels very homey. The writers have a very light touch. It’s like, “Here we are,” 2021. This is us now. It was so elegantly handled.”

Cantone, who is 61, has been grieving the loss of his husband. On Tuesday night, Cantone shared his thoughts via social media: “I couldn’t have had a better partner. I am devastated and overwhelmed by sadness. All of you will be taken away soon. You were a gift from God. Rest my sweet friend. You are my sweet friend.”
