Britney’s father was removed from the conservatorship she had held for 13 years that controlled her finances and life. This arrangement was made public after the Hulu documentary Framing Britney was released in February. The chronological dive into the rise of the pop star, along with the unfavorable media attention and scrutiny that followed, is part of The New York Times Presents series. There have been many Britney-related documentaries since then (including Britney Vs Spears on Netflix, and CNN’s Toxic Britney Spears’ Battle for Freedom), but we chose Controlling Britney Spears, the Hulu follow-up journalistic installment.

This is Paris (2020)
