4 Healthy habits Every Men Has to Adopt in 2022

I would send a text message to my 2000 Nokia saying, “Hey teenager me, it’s 30-something year old you. Yes, I know it’s so old but please listen. You need to use sunscreen more often and not put your body in a tanning chair, no matter how many times you hear from your sorority sisters. It’s not. At 28 years old, you will have your back removed by two malignant melanomas. That’s cancer, dummy. It’s totally avoidable. Let’s try to stop it. We love you, goodbye!”

Unfortunately, it isn’t real, so all I can do is to thank my lucky stars that I’m okay. How about you? If you had the chance to tell your younger self what you would say,

What’s the advice you would scribble down and slip into your own pocket, or email to yourself from you-@-the-future-dot-com?

I reached out to some specialists for the first installment of our wellness series. They shared their self-care routines and habits. It can help you with anything, from improving your bedroom performance to growing new hair if prescribed. They all agree that it’s great to do this now, but they could have used it years ago, five years, ten years, or even a decade ago.

  • MAINTAINING MENTAL HEALTH

There are many great memes on the internet that poke fun at men’s resistance towards therapy. They’d rather do anything than sit down with a professional to talk about their lives.

It’s a happy fact that, in real life, I can report that every man I know who put effort into improving his mental clarity and mental health has seen a significant improvement.

“I wish I had known how powerful this therapy could be for personal growth. It would have been a decade ago that I would have initiated it and invested in myself. The value of this program has been unmatched. I have become more aware of who I am and what I want to be. I also have a better understanding about how I react to certain situations.”

It all comes down to a holistic approach. A holistic approach is the best way to improve your mental health. This includes everything from sessions with therapists to medication. You can do all of this in your own home, or on the couch with hims. If prescribed, you will even receive 70% off your first month’s medication. If this appeals to you, click the button!

Therapy isn’t the only option for mental health care. Even small acts of meditation, such as daily reading, can make a big difference in your mood and your ability to interact with the outside world.

“Meditation is an important part of my daily practice, which I started a few years back. I love it so much. It has helped me to stay present and focused throughout my day, and it has helped me act with intention.” Frank, 35

  • HEALTHIER HABITS

Being a stereotypical Type B personality, I struggle to thrive in rigid routines and schedules. But, I have noticed a significant improvement in my health and well-being by adopting healthy habits, such as daily walking, drinking lots of water, and taking vitamins. This is also true for the men I spoke to.

“Early rising is a great way to reap the rewards. While I wasn’t great at it during COVID I was able to wake up early enough to do a workout and have a cup of coffee before work and arrive at the office thirty minutes earlier than anyone else. That half hour was crucial to me. To be able to spend my time uninterrupted without interruptions. It really helped me get ahead of the day, from start to end.” — Quinn 38

A few guys also told me that they wish they had learned sooner how to move their bodies every day.

“I wish I would have started a yoga and stretching routine sooner! Since I was young, I have been involved in a variety of sports and was active all my life. Now, I feel that years of this activity are taking its toll on my stiff and creaky bodies. I am trying to get back into yoga and stretching, but I wish I had done it earlier in my life.” — Tim, 29

  • GET PROACTIVE ABOUT YOUR APPEARANCE

It was not until my late twenties that I started spending money on skincare. (See the aforementioned scare about skin cancer). This was partly because I was broke and partly because I didn’t think about my future. However, investing in preventatives now will reap dividends later.

Before you get started debating me on your screen, I just want to say that it’s 2022. We no longer live in the belief that your appearance is somehow un-manly.

“I began Finasteride six to seven years ago as a way of keeping my hair healthy. You should definitely consider it in your mid- to late twenties. I did not even consider hair loss until a friend pointed out that my hair was starting to thin when I was almost thirty. I didn’t realize what my options were at the time. Now I feel that there are many options that are simple and easily accessible. This would have been great for me in my younger years.” — Jason 36

  • STABILITY OF YOUR FINANCIAL FITNESS

As you age, one thing you can’t be lazy about is your financial health. Not having a plan in place for when your sagging stomachs and the person who is attached to them, can’t pay the bills is another thing. There is no way. It’s never too late for you to think about your future self.

“I haven’t mastered my budget yet and wish I had learned this early. Balancing a checkbook seemed like a tedious task. Having this skill and chore in my early years would have saved me a lot of time and effort. There are no regrets. )” — Ben, 41

The bottom line? We are all about guys taking self-improvement very seriously. You can live at any age and for any reason in any area of your life. Yes, I would recommend that you start sooner than later. You know what? You can start new healthy habits anytime, take self-care steps, and start taking meds you get the idea.

This is the best thing about it all. You can be more for yourself and others by being better for yourself. You will see more rest, strength, happiness, and introspection. Your loved ones, friends, family, and partners will also benefit.

Perhaps it’s taking a walk each morning or scheduling an overdue physical. Perhaps it’s asking a friend to recommend a career coach. It doesn’t matter what it is, I can assure you that no matter how old you are, investing in yourself will be a wise decision. Therefore, no matter what your ideal self looks like, why not meet that guy today?
