Solar Paint, the latest addition to the brand’s makeup offerings, is a creme bronzer that’s meant to boost your skin’s glow, making it easier to achieve Glossier’s signature “no-makeup makeup” look. This bronzer has small light-reflective pearls which give skin a warm glow. The formula also offers skin-care benefits, including jojoba oil or baobab oil that moisturizes your skin and boosts luminosity.

The bronzer comes in four different shades, each meant to work with a range of skin tones in order to warm the skin and create dimension: The makeup artist suggests applying the product directly to your face using the applicator and then blending it with your fingers in a circular motion. Isadare suggests working in sections because cream formulas can quickly dry. Begin by applying the cream along the cheekbones, then move on to the rest of the face.

We decide to dot the bronzer in the shade “Volt” along the high points of our face–aka the places on ourskin where the sun would naturally hit–and then use a makeup brush to work the bronzer into skin. Isadare suggests that you focus on your temples and hollows of your cheeks to achieve a more contoured look. Blend slightly upwards.

So we did regular, everyday makeup (concealer, brows, mascara, blush, and a little eyeshadow) before going in with the bronzer. It’s a unique bronzer because it has a small doe-foot application. While we liked the control it gave over the placement of pigments, it was not for us. For someone like us who likes subtle, yet striking colors, it required more product than we used with powder bronzers. Its creme formula means that even though it may look brighter than you would expect, the color goes on very sheer. This product is not for those who prefer a thick bronzer look. This bronzer is a great choice if you want something lightweight that leaves behind a natural-looking flush. It gave our skin that Glossier glow. The product also lives up to its light claims. Because of the many nourishing oils, it really moved with our skin and not on top.

{The bronzer definitely acts as a pick-me-up for dull, sleepy skin and it fits right into the brand’s “no-makeup makeup” ethos. It gave my skin a warm glow, which I chose to skip highlighter. The tint’s staying power won’t last for the whole day, I will be honest. The emollients found in the formula made my skin look dewy even after the color started to fade. This product is a great starter bronzer, especially if you aren’t used to it. It also provides a nice, fresh-looking coverage that’s perfect for everyday wear.
