Fotografiska New York will present a major exhibit that showcases many of Andy Warhol’s rarely seen photos. The exhibition, entitled “Andy Warhol – Photo Factory”, features 124 photographs that will show six facets of Warhol’s film work. It also includes intimate Polaroid photos of famous people like Jane Fonda and Keith Haring. There are many examples of Warhol’s work, from his famous polaroid collages, which he made for magazines like Vogue Paris and Mondo Uomo to a series that he used to stitch together photographs in a gridding set of four, six, and twelve images.

It also include four films that featured New York’s cultural elite such as Lou Reed or Edie Sedgwick. The exhibition offers a fascinating introspective, especially since we consider these less-known stitched photographs as an extension Warhol’s raw self. There are also unique photos of Robert Mapplethorpe and Gianni Versace, Steven Spielberg.

Hedges is the curator of the exhibition, as well as Jack Shaiman Gallery and Grace Noh from Fotografiska New York, in collaboration with Jessica Jarl at Fotografiska.

“Andy Warhol, Photo Factory” will be on view at Fotografiska between September 10 and January 30.
