It may feel nice for some of us to walk around your house naked or with only socks on. You’re at home. Comfort is what you should aim for. Also you don’t want to walk all over your carpet in muddy shoes. But, walking around your house without any support or protection can prove to be dangerous and even painful. Experts recommend that you invest in slippers for your house, especially if it’s your first time working remotely.
Experts share their reasons slippers are a good choice for your home:
- Slippers are a must-have for your home.
Dr. Ashley Lee, Northern Illinois Foot &Ankle says that this is an important point she has discussed with her patients. “Most people have hardwood floors, and this causes excessive pressure on the heels and ball of the feet. Slippers are recommended. Walking on hard surfaces for long periods of time without support can cause inflammation and irritation to the ankle ligaments and tendons. Tendinitis or instability can result, which can be quite painful.”
Dr. Lee claims that they have seen a rise in foot pain since the pandemic. She says, “Patients have made comments about their foot pain, particularly women, saying that they used to wear heels to work, and never had any problems. But now, when they are home, and have no heels, it’s worse.
“In these cases, patients’ foot pain often improves when they wear a good indoor slipper or a designated indoor workout shoe.”
- Plantar fasciitis is a condition that causes inflammation of the foot. Walking barefoot for extended periods of time can lead to tendinitis and capsulitis. This is an inflammation of the ligaments in the second toe. These conditions can cause swelling, pain, tenderness, tenderness, and tenderness.
Why is it so important to support your feet?
Your feet are the foundation of your entire body. According to Dr. Diana Rogers, Northern Illinois Foot &. Ankle Specialists, foot muscle fatigue can have a domino effect upon adjacent joints. The feet can cause pain in the knee, hip, back and shoulder as well as head. Dr. Rogers states that most people don’t know they have joint pain until they wear supportive shoes around the house. Then, their aches disappear.
“You don’t have to spend a lot on shoes that you will only wear around the house. You just need to make sure the slippers are comfortable for your feet.”
