Marvel and Disney have released a new featurette called “Ready to Rise” for Shang-Chi, the Legend of the Ten Rings. The two-minute video features Destin Daniel Cretton as director and Dave Callaham as writers. It stars Simu Liu and Awkwafina and Fala Chen, and Michelle Yeoh talking about Asian representation within the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

“Many of us who were raised in the West and whose parents immigrated to America, don’t see ourselves onscreen meaningfully. Shang-Chi will be an integral part of that conversation,”  Liu (the titular role) said in the featurette.

Cretton said that the story of Shang Chi was very personal. “I wanted to see what a superhero could look like, and what it would mean for me. It was amazing to be able not only to add Shang-Chi, but to also add a whole bunch of Asian faces that represent something I have never seen before.”

Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings debuts September 3.
