Who is the Duchess Of Cambridge?

Catherine Elizabeth Middleton was born in Reading, Berkshire on 9 January 1982. The Duchess grew-up in Chapel Row, in the same county. It is not clear when Prince William and Kate started dating. However, the prince proposed to Kate while on holiday in Kenya in 2010.

The couple were married in the same year. On 29 April 2011, they had a big wedding at Westminster Abbey. This event was watched by millions around the world. Kate was 29 years old at the time of her marriage. She was overtaken by Meghan Markle, Duchess of Sussex who married Prince Harry in 2018 at 36.

They have three children, Prince George of Cambridge, Princess Charlotte of Cambridge (Prince Louis of Cambridge).

Kate Middleton is not a Princess, but she has multiple royal titles.

Facts about Kate Middleton

His grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II, gave Prince William the title of Duke and Duchess of Cambridge when he married Kate in 2011. This made Kate Middleton the Duchess of Cambridge.

This title can only be used in England. The Duchess is like other royals and has different titles in Scotland and Northern Ireland. She is called Lady Carrickfergus and Countess de Strathearn, respectively.

Officially, Catherine is called Her Royal Highness Princess William, Duchess and Duchess of Cambridge. She is also Countess and Lady Carrickfergus. Her official title is “Princess William”, but not her name, because of royal protocol. This stipulates that princesses cannot be named by their own names.

So why is Diana called “Princess Diana” despite not being born into the royal family. Express reports that the title was given to the late Princess Diana by the people and the media because she was admired greatly. After marrying Charles, Prince Of Wales, her official title was Diana Princess of Wales.

Because they were born into the royal family, all three children of William and Kate have the title of princess or prince.

  • She was once a model for her parents’ company

Kate Middleton has never lived a royal life prior to marriage. Her family is upper-middle class. Her father, Michael Middleton was a flight dispatcher, and her mother Carole Goldsmith was a flight attendant. Both were employed by British Airways.

Party Pieces is also owned by her parents. As a child, Kate, Pippa and James were models for the company. Marie Claire reports that Carole stated in a blog post celebrating her 30th anniversary in 2018 that all of her children had played a major role in the company’s development, from the catalog to the creation of new categories.

Carole’s blog was seven years old, but Claudia Joseph, author of Kate: The Making of a Princess had the same information to CNN via e-mail just days before Kate married Prince William.

Joseph stated that Pippa and Kate were both models for the catalogues. They wore t-shirts with their ages and held cupcakes.

CNN revealed that Kate created a new division within the company in 2008, with a focus in babies’ parties. Starlight Children’s Foundation was also supported by the company.

  • Before 2001, the Duchess had already met with the Duke

It is known that Kate first met Prince William while they were both studying at the University of St. Andrews. Kate earned her Master’s in Art from there. Although it was their first real meeting, William and Kate had been friends for years before that.

Katie Nicholl revealed this information. She wrote the unofficial biography of the Duchess, Kate The Future Queen and shared it with Katie Couric in 2013. “I was talking to some of her friends at Marlborough [College],” she said. This is where she was before St. Andrews. They said, “Uh-uh. She didn’t meet him in St. Andrews. He was a friend of hers and she met him while she was in sixth form at St. Andrews. They were friends with Prince William and Prince Harry so it was easy to meet at school.”

Nicholl claims that Kate was first attracted to Harry Blakelock, Marlborough’s “hottest boy”

He was in the same year as Kate. He was a great cricketer and a very talented athlete. Kate returned to sixth form for the first time, and she was a beautiful girl. Nicholl shared that she was attracted to the most handsome boy in school. They had a relationship for almost a year, and he was her first love.

  • William and Kate were roommates

Kate and William are meant to be together, no matter where or how they met. Before they began dating, they were actually roommates.

This was revealed by Prince William in an official engagement interview in 2010 that was broadcast on ITV.

Tom Bradby asked if they ended up in the same apartment. The Duke replied, “No, we moved in together because we were living together. We also lived with a few others and it just kind of blossomed.” They just got to know each other more, and we hung out more and did more. So um yeah.”

The Duke commented on the reactions of the flatmates and said that they initially were surprised it had happened. But then, they realized it was great fun and they got along really well. They were also good friends so we shared a lot of laughter with them.”

  • Kate did not have any William pictures on her wall

People believed for a long time in the rumour of Kate Middleton having pictures of Prince William hanging on the walls. The Duchess of Cambridge dispelled this rumour in a 2010 engagement interview.

Bradby spoke out about the gossip, saying that there is a story that a photo of him was on someone’s wall. Prince William joked that there wasn’t one, but there were at least 20.

The Duchess retorted, saying that she only had one poster of the Levis guy.

“He wishes.

The Duke laughed and said, “It wasn’t me in Levis honestly.”

  • The Duchess was a buyer’s assistant

According to the BBC, Kate received a 2:1 degree from St. Andrews University in History of Art in 2005.

After this, she worked briefly as an accessory buyer for British clothing retailer Jigsaw.

“We can confirm that Kate joined Jigsaw’s staff as an accessory buyer for Jigsaw Junior and Jigsaw Junior two or three weeks back. “We can’t comment further,” Daily Mail quotes a Jigsaw spokeswoman as saying in 2006.

According to Daily Mail, John and Belle Robinson are close family friends of the Middletons. Jigsaw is an interesting company.

  • Kate Middleton was once trained to cross England’s Channel

Kate was able to train with The Sisterhood, an all-female dragon boat crew in 2007 for a short time. They were training to race against an all-male crew on the English Channel in charity.

After being invited by Alicia Fox Pittt, a friend from St. Andrew’s who invited Kate to join the training, she accepted. Kate was seen rowing alongside the team along the River Thames and even sitting at the back of the boat as a skipper.

Due to security concerns and intense media attention, she was forced to withdraw from the event.

After receiving advice, Kate has decided to quit. “It’s a safety thing…security issues,” Emma Sayle (captain of the team) told PEOPLE in August 2007.

She’s disappointed she can’t, but she made a phone call and has taken all the team into consideration. Sayle stated that by pulling out, she was doing it for everyone else.

The skipper pointed out that the group had been made extremely difficult by photographers. Kate’s lawyers were forced to warn the paparazzi not to invade her privacy.

Sayle stated, “It’s already dangerous enough, without having to consider the world’s [paparazzi] causing it to capsize the entire time.”

According to The Royal Family, the Duchess of Cambridge is described as a “keen sportwoman”. She is also listed as The Royal Patron of sports-related institutions like SportsAid and The All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club.

  • Princess Diana was the one who remembered that her wedding dress had a blue ribbon.

According to Reader’s Digest, this timeless British tradition requires that the bride’s gown should contain “something old”, something new, something borrowed and something blue”. These words are derived from a Victorian-era English rhyme.

This tradition was upheld by Kate, as did others, when she married Prince William.

Kate had her Alexander McQueen wedding gown designed by Sarah Burton using the traditional Irish Carrickmacross Lace-making technique. This gown featured ivory silk tulle and hand-cut lace flowers.

Her parents gave her diamond earrings, which she wore as “something new”. Queen Elizabeth II gave her the Cartier Scroll Tiara.

But, “something blue”, was the most meaningful. Kate chose to honor Princess Diana. So Burton’s team sewn a blue ribbon to the inside of the dress.

Express reports that the blue ribbon which symbolizes good fortune was sewn onto the gown of Princess Diana in 1981 when she married Prince Charles.

  • Kate Middleton loves Homeland and Downtown Abbey

It is possible to wonder if the Duchess of Cambridge has any time for herself despite her busy schedule that includes royal engagements and unwinding. It seems she does, and she, like many others, has her favourite TV shows.

Kate is a huge fan of at least three TV shows: Downtown Abbey (2010-15), Game of Thrones (2011)-19, and Homeland (2011-20).

In 2015, Prince William revealed this fact (yes, again). The Duke stated that Downton Abbey was one of his favourite programmes when he spoke at a special BAFTA tribute.

Kate also visited the London’s Ealing Studio set of the show that year (pictured). In 2017, he also spoke out about his love for box sets, and how he and Kate enjoy watching GoT and Homeland.

He said, “Homeland, that’s what we love, and Game Of Thrones.”

  • Kate Middleton loves photography

Kate Middleton is well-known for her passion for photography. According to The Royal Family’s official website, Kate Middleton is described as an “eager photographer” and an Honorary Member in the Royal Photographic Society.

In 2018, she was the first Royal Patron to the Victoria and Albert Museum in London. Her interest in visual arts and photography sparked her interest in textiles and design. Since 2012, she has been a patron to the National Portrait Gallery.

Kate took a photo of Prince Louis, her youngest child, on the lap of Princess Charlotte. The photograph was taken at Kensington Palace. It was shared via the official social media accounts of the Duke and Duchess. Kate also took the first official photo, which shows Princess Charlotte sitting on Prince George’s lap.

Kate actually takes candid photos of many children, especially when they are celebrating special occasions like their birthdays. Every photo taken by Kate brings royal family admirers closer together, from Princess Charlotte’s first day of school to Prince Louis taking his first baby step to Prince George playing with colors or just beaming with joy.

  • Chutney was made for the Queen by her

The Duchess shared her homemade chutney with the Queen in a 2016 ITV documentary entitled Our Queen at 90.

“I can still recall being at Sandringham at Christmas for the first-time. I worried about what I should give the Queen for Christmas. “Gosh, what should we give her?” I thought,” the Duchess replied.

Kate said, “I thought back about what I would give to my grandparents,” adding that she thought, “I’ll make it something.” This could have gone horribly sour. I made my grandmother’s chutney recipe.

She said, “I was slightly concerned about it, but I noticed that the next day it was on the tables.”

  • Kate Middleton was not officially introduced to Queen Elizabeth II for five years

Kate shared in a post-engagement video that she had with William, 2010 that she revealed that she met the Queen for the first time at the wedding of Peter Phillips (son of Anne, Princess Royal), to Autumn.

She said that she first met her at Peter’s wedding. It was amongst many other guests, and she was very friendly.

Many were shocked to learn that Kate and Queen had never met prior to the 2008 wedding, despite their five-year relationship with William.

It was also surprising, as Kate was at events between the monarch’s presence.

PopSugar claims that Kate and the Queen were in the same room at most three times before the wedding, but there was no interaction.

“While William and Kate worked out the first five-years of their on-off marriage, the queen avoided meeting [his] girlfriend.” PopSugar reported that they were present in the same room at least three times, but there was no interaction between them.”

This report clarified why Kate and the Queen did not feel it was necessary to meet at that time.

According to the report, “By the time they graduated St. Andrews two year later, they had gone through their first breakup, and the relationship was stronger, but the queen believed that William should celebrate with his friends and she felt the exact same when it came down to his passing out parade at Sandhurst Military Academy, in 2006.”

  • The Duchess is allergic horses

Kate Middleton is the only royal who has not been on horseback. Two reasons are responsible for this. Marcia Moody, author of Kate: A Biography, revealed the first. According to Town &.Country reported that Moody said to the publication that Kate had never learned to ride horses growing up.

“Kate doesn’t ride because she didn’t learn how to ride growing up.” William and Harry were taught to ride from an early age. However, they only now ride for polo. They don’t do hacks like the queen has always done,” Moody stated.

The other reason is even more serious.

Daily Mail reported that Kate had said to Kathy Lette, an Australian author, that she was allergic to horses at a society polo match in 2009.

In 2011, it was reported that the Duchess was trying to overcome her allergy by spending more quality time with horses.

Kate has been photographed with horses up close, and sometimes even patting them.
